Effective Date: October 11, 2026
What changed: On October 11, 2026 we added sections 4, 5 and 6, which explain the advertising, analytics and measurement services this site uses, the cookies involved, and how to opt out, and we updated sections 1, 2 and 3 to match.
This site is run by Vert Energy Group, Inc., a private company. It is not run by the State of Washington or any government agency.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us, such as when you:
- Fill out contact forms or request assessments
- Download resources or guides
- Sign up for webinars or consultations
- Enter a giveaway
- Book a meeting with our team
- Use the compliance calculator or the chat assistant
This may include your name, email address, phone number, company name, building information, and other details you choose to provide. Depending on the form, we ask for the number of buildings you own or manage, your role, the size, address, county or city, and age of a building, how you manage energy today, the date and time you prefer for a call, and any question you type. Some forms have an optional box you can check to agree to text messages. If you book a meeting, the scheduling tool provided by HubSpot collects the details you enter there.
We also collect some information automatically when you visit this site: your IP address, the type of device and browser you use, the pages you view, what you click, when you visit, the page or ad that sent you here (including campaign tags and advertising click IDs in the link you used), and, through the recording tools described in section 4, how you move, scroll and click on a page, and what you type into a form field, including before you submit the form. If you use the chat assistant, the messages you type are sent to our website server so it can reply, and they may be kept in our hosting provider's logs.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide CBPS compliance guidance and resources
- Respond to your inquiries and requests
- Send you relevant updates about CBPS requirements
- Improve our website and services, and find and fix problems with them
- Measure how well our advertising works and, where we choose to, show our ads to people who have visited this site
- Comply with legal obligations
3. Information Sharing
We share information with the companies that help us run this site, measure how it is used, and advertise our services. They are named in section 4. In particular, when you submit a form or book a meeting, this site tells Google and LinkedIn that it happened so we can measure our advertising, and Google may also receive a one-way hashed form of the email address or phone number you entered.
Apart from that, we do not transfer your personal information to third parties through this site without your consent, except as described in this policy or as required by law.
4. Advertising, Analytics and Measurement Services
This site uses services from other companies to understand how it is used, to find and fix problems, and to measure and run our advertising. When you visit, these companies can receive information such as your IP address, your device and browser, the pages you view, the page that sent you here, the campaign details in the link you used, and identifiers stored in cookies. They handle that information under their own privacy policies, which are linked below.
Analytics
- Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager (Google LLC) count visits and show us which pages and campaigns bring people to this site and what they click. Google Tag Manager is also how we load some of the other tools listed here. The Google tag on this site reports to more than one Google Analytics property. Google Analytics on this site works with Google's advertising features, which means Google may combine this data with its advertising cookies and identifiers. See the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Session recording and heatmaps
- Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft), Lucky Orange and LogRocket record how visitors use our pages, such as mouse movements, clicks, scrolling and the page content shown, so we can replay visits, build heatmaps and find problems. These tools can also record what you type into a form field, including before you submit the form. Settings differ by tool, and we cannot promise a given field is hidden. Microsoft sets its own cookies through Clarity, including for advertising, and handles the data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. See also the Lucky Orange and LogRocket privacy notices.
Call tracking
- WhatConverts shows different phone numbers to different visitors, which lets it connect a phone call to the page or ad that led to it, and it can log details of calls made to those numbers, such as the caller's phone number and the time of the call. See the WhatConverts privacy policy.
Advertising and conversion measurement
- Google Ads (Google LLC). We use Google Ads to measure our advertising, and we may advertise on Google's services, such as Google Search and YouTube, and on websites that partner with Google. When you submit a form or book a meeting on this site, the site tells Google that it happened. Google may also receive a one-way hashed form of the email address or phone number you entered. Hashing scrambles the value so that it cannot be read back. If Google receives it, Google compares it with Google accounts that were signed in when someone interacted with one of our ads, to match the form or booking to that ad. We use this to measure and improve our advertising.
- LinkedIn (LinkedIn Corporation), through the LinkedIn Insight Tag. The tag reports to two LinkedIn advertising accounts. The tag tells LinkedIn about visits to this site, and when you submit a form or book a meeting it tells LinkedIn that this happened. LinkedIn uses the tag's cookies to recognize whether a visitor is a LinkedIn member, so it can measure our ads and report on our website audience. The tag can be used to show our ads to people who have visited this site. See the LinkedIn Privacy Policy and the LinkedIn Cookie Policy.
Showing ads to past visitors (remarketing). We may use cookies and similar technologies from Google and LinkedIn to show our ads to people who have visited this site, on Google's and LinkedIn's services. Third-party vendors, including Google, show our ads on sites across the internet, and Google and LinkedIn use cookies and device identifiers to choose ads based on someone's past visits to this site. Section 6 explains how to opt out.
Forms, scheduling and automation
- HubSpot receives what you enter in our lead forms, and provides the meeting scheduler on some pages, which sets its own cookies when it loads. See the HubSpot Privacy Policy.
- Zapier, an automation service, receives what you enter in our forms and passes it on to the systems we use to respond to you. See the Zapier Privacy Statement.
Hosting
- Vercel hosts this site and keeps server logs of requests, such as IP address and the pages requested. See the Vercel Privacy Notice. Our email preferences (unsubscribe) service may run on Railway.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
A cookie is a small file that a website saves in your browser. This site and the services in section 4 set cookies and use your browser's local and session storage to remember your visit, count visits, recognize returning visitors, record how pages are used, measure advertising and show ads. The companies named in section 4 set their own cookies; Google, Microsoft and LinkedIn can set cookies that follow you across other websites.
This site sets these cookies itself:
- wa_ab remembers which version of a page you were shown, for up to 90 days (set on our giveaway pages).
- wa_ft remembers the campaign details and advertising click IDs from the first link that brought you to our giveaway pages, for up to 90 days.
The site also keeps campaign details for your visit, and the name and email address you give in the email box for a guide or resource, in your browser's session storage. After you submit a form, the name, email address, phone number and company you entered are kept in your browser's local storage, so we can fill in forms for you next time. Clearing your browser data removes these.
6. Your Choices and How to Opt Out
This site does not have a cookie settings panel and does not ask for cookie consent before these tools run. The code of this site also does not respond to a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal from your browser. You can use these choices instead:
- Google. Opt out of personalized ads from Google, including ads based on visits to this site, in Google's Ads Settings or My Ad Center. To stop Google Analytics from measuring your visits, install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Industry opt-out pages. The Network Advertising Initiative at thenai.org/how-to-opt-out and the Digital Advertising Alliance at optout.aboutads.info let you opt out of interest-based advertising from many advertising companies in one place.
- LinkedIn. LinkedIn members can change their ad settings at LinkedIn advertising preferences. If you are not a LinkedIn member, you can opt out of LinkedIn retargeting at LinkedIn guest opt-out.
- Microsoft. The Microsoft Privacy Statement at microsoft.com/privacy explains the choices you have over Microsoft advertising and data collection.
- Your browser. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and local storage, and browser extensions can block tracking tools. Blocking them may change how parts of this site work.
Opting out affects advertising going forward. It does not delete information you already gave us in a form. To ask about, update or delete that information, contact us at privacy@vertenergy.com or at the phone number in section 9.
7. Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access and update your personal information
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Opt out of marketing communications
- Request information about how we use your data
