CBPS Information

What is the Washington Clean Buildings Performance Standard?

The CBPS is a statewide law requiring large and medium-sized buildings to improve energy efficiency and adopt standard operating practices.

Tier 1:

Buildings ≥50,000 sq ft must comply with energy performance targets, Energy Management Plans, and O&M Programs (deadlines 2026–2028).

Tier 2:

Buildings 20,000–50,000 sq ft (including multifamily) must comply by July 1, 2027 — with EMP + O&M enacted by July 1, 2026.
